East Japan Railway's E257 series
EMU for Limited Express

E257 series has debuted in 2001 as limited express "Azusa" and
"Kaiji" on Chuou main line and Oito Line and an old EMU of 183
series replacement. We have designed and manufactured lightweight and
low center-of-gravity on vehicles for passenger's comfortable nature
because of many curve tracks and narrow tunnels on these lines.
Moreover, we have verified the air-conditioning performance and
manufactured the vehicles, which pursued comfortable nature. We have
adopted as the vehicles coating "Takeda's diamond" which is
the family crest of "Samurai" general "Takeda Shingen"
who lived in Kofu 550 years ago as an image of Chuou main line. Peach,
turquoise blue, yellow and blue to be vehicle-painting color show the
four (4) seasons in Japan. Silver means the Japan Alps. Thanks to you,
E257 series EMU wined the "Blue Ribbon Prize" as best rolling
stock in 2002 by Japan Rail Fan Club.
